Want It Wednesday: Floral Smock Dress

It’s been a while since my last blog post (November to be exact) and I’ve been wanting to get back into blogging and putting myself out there as part of my New Year’s Resolution… better late than never right?

So to get back into the swing of things, I’ve decided to start a weekly segment called Want It Wednesday, where I’ll be writing about the things I’m currently lusting after! I’m hoping that this new segment will help me stick to a regular schedule, manage my time better, help me improve my writing and, most importantly, find my voice in this blogging world (#cheese).

So without further ado, let’s get started shall we?

cobalt dress

This cute little number from ASOS is what I’m loving this week for a number of reasons. The first reason is that it’s from ASOS Petite, which is a massive plus! I’m a small girl. I’m 5″1 (and a half) and it’s a struggle to find dresses that fall at the length I want, which is at the tip of my thumb when I put my arms to the sides. I like my dresses short – but not too short – because I find that it makes my legs look a little bit longer, and hey, I need all the help I can get.

I’m not a massive fan of overly busy pieces of clothing and maybe that’s why I like this dress so much; the plain back works well with the floral accents to the front to highlight the dress without overpowering it.Β The tiered detailing catches my eye because it adds a flirty touch to the dress and the lovely shade of blue – cobalt if we’re being specific – would definitely add a pop of colour to my usually black, white and grey wardrobe. Plus, this colour usually compliments my skin tone, which is something I sometimes worry about when it comes to buying clothes.

I’ve never understood the fascination with loose fitting or bell sleeves. I used to think they were hideous, because deep down I worried it would draw even more attention to my twiggy arms if I ever wore one. Now though, I own a total of two – yes two – tops with bell sleeves and this is probably another reason why I’m crushing hard on this dress. If I wasn’t trying to be so hard on myself with money and saving money, this dress – with an affordable price tag of Β£32 – would probably already be on its way to me right now.
